Inpurinto
(Furniture/ Sculpture)
Inpurinto is a chair made to hurt. The longer a user sits, the more painful it gets. It is made for people who are willing to face their bad habits of procrastinating. The pain from the chair reminds the user to get off it and also leaves polka-dot-like imprints on the user’s body to serve as a reminder that with procrastination, comes consequences. On top of that, the longer the user sits, the longer the imprints remain. The idea came about from my assigned designer who is Yayoi Kusama. She's a contemporary artist who's known for using polka dots as a motif in her artworks. Her artworks reflect her hallucinations that came along due to childhood traumas. Inpurinto is a reflection of the way Kusama uses pain in creation.
